URGENT: Our attention has been drawn to a news report, which says HDI has filed an action asking the Inspector General of Police and Department of State Services (DSS) to arrest and prosecute a journalist, for allegedly publishing a video on his website.
The Vanguard Newspaper and other media houses published the report on Tuesday, 16th May, 2017.

We therefore state that the Human Development Initiatives is different from the Incorporated Trustees of the Overt Legacy and Human Development Initiative the group which filed the action.

We hereby dissociate our organisation and members of our Board of Trustee from the said action filed by the Incorporated Trustees of the Overt Legacy and Human Development Initiative. HDI is neither associated nor affiliated with this group in any way.

Human Development Initiatives became registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission under the Company and Allied Matters Act in 1998 with RC number: 11477.

As a Civil Society Organisation, we recognize and support Press freedom and civil right. HDI supports the right of every Nigerian, particularly the rights to free association and the freedom of expression.

This matter has been reported to appropriate authorities for investigations.
