Medical/Health Intervention (Annually)
Annually, a special day is set aside when widows get free medical screening, OTC drugs and access to doctors for consultation and psychosocial counseling. A medical team is put together to provide these services while serious cases are referred for further treatment.
For increase in efficiency and impact, the HDI off-site legal clinics are taken to the communities. This is to enable vulnerable groups who are HDI’s clients access services without hindrance. Widows are enlightened on different topics such as the legal rights of widows, taking over their deceased husbands’ estate without interference, right to custody of their children, right not to be subjected to forced and harmful traditional mourning practices, right to re-marry without losing custody of the deceased’s property, among others.
